Introduction – Founded in 1971, Symbiosis Law School is a renowned law school that was started under the patronage of Dr S. S. B. Majumdar. It is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. It was officially established in June 1977. The Institute was formerly affiliated with the University of Pune and later became a component of Symbiosis International University in 2002. # 4. Government Law College, Mumbai:
Introduction – Founded in 1855, Government Law College is the oldest law college in Asia. It is one of the most sought after law colleges due to its rich legacy. In 1988, an attached building was built to house additional classrooms and a library in proportion to the number of students. The institute is known around the world for its heritage and lineage, many famous Supreme Court and High Court judges have passed from this college. The college, which is now 160 years old, still holds the top spot in the ranking of the best law colleges and remains undefeated.
Convenience – The library of this college is known for collecting books and texts about the law in real and old times. Some of the books found in this library are 200 years old. # 5. ILS Law College, Pune
Introduction – Founded in 1924, ILS Law College received an A + grade in 2004 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of Bangalore. The campus is spread over 195 acres in the centre of Pune. It was awarded the ‘SILF-MILAT Institutional Excellence Award 2013’ by the Society of Indian Law Firms and Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy Training, Delhi. The Institute also holds an award for ‘Best Private Education Institute 2012-13’ in the WCRC Leaders Asia Law School category. ILS was ranked first among the top ten law colleges in the country through India Today, ORG-MARG poll survey in 2005 and Week in 2006.
Facilities – The two main infrastructure sections of the Institute are Saraswati Building and Lakshmi Building which are administrative blocks and teaching complexes respectively. Commonly known as the Library, Gharpur has about 60,000 books, international and national journals and periodicals. # 6. BHU Law College, Benaras:
Introduction – The College of Law at BHU was one of the many branches of the varsity that was established long ago. Finally, in 1964, the foundation of the new building was dedicated exclusively to law education by the then Prime Minister of the country, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. The founder of this university, Mahaman Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, served as the Dean of the Law School for many years. BHU Law College is one of the leading institutes in our country for awarding LLB degrees. Benares Law School was one of the six universities in India to introduce Clinical Legal Services. Former Chief Justice of India Justice PN Bhagwati has judged the model developed by the law school as the best model.
Advantages – The law college is designed in a structure similar to that of Harvard Law School. # 7. University College of Law, Osmania University, Hyderabad
Introduction – Osmania University came into existence in 1918. Finally, in 1923, the Law Department was established. The University College of Law was inaugurated in 1960 by then Chief Justice BP Sinha. Professor GCV Suba Rao was the first principal of the college. The college has consistently been rated as one of the best law colleges in the country in a survey conducted by India Today and other magazines. The college has an intellectual property rights deposit under the auspices of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

# 8. Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur:
Introduction – This is the first institute of its kind to specialize in intellectual property rights under IITs. The school offers a six-semester, three-year full-time residential program for pursuing a Bachelor of Laws (degree) in Intellectual Property Act, approved by the Bar Council of India.
Facilities – The University is located 120 km west of Kolkata. The Institute’s library has more than 350,000 books and has more than 1,600 printed and subscribed to online journals and conference activities. The institute campus has six guest houses, a civic hospital, four nationalized banks, four schools, a railway reservation counter and a police station. The campus has a water pumping station, electrical sub-station, telephone exchange, a market, six restaurants and a garbage disposal department for the daily needs of the residents.
